It can often be challenging to develop projects for diverse student populations with various reading levels and learning styles. At Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, a particular challenge was creating curriculum for first year students in the Community Worker program to teach the holistic nature of health promotion.
Students use the Circle of Health throughout the Health Promotion course in their field practicum as well as in their other courses as a tool for planning for a research paper, in which students select a wedge of the Circle of Health to evaluate their college community. experiential exercise integrates the course learning. The students become excited about the Circle of Health and use it.
